Banten opal (solid opal)
Just to show my largest 20.6 carats of crystal opal from Banten, Indonesia. Non-hydrophane but stable enough to withstand dry conditions without crazing.

Wow, nice going on that one, and it's a great size! Do you wear them or gift them, or do you sell what you cut? That's a good one.
It's so good to see you pop in again and thanks for sharing that with us. I hope you've been doing great and all is well.

One of my Banten contraluz crazed as soon as I dry it. This piece i'll keep in water until I get the right stabilization methods.

Never seen opticon yet at my location. Cynoacrylate glue probably the best for my sealer because both cynoacrylate and opal have same reflective index. I must figure out how to fill the glue deep inside the crazing line.

My best flawless and large Banten precious fire opal. 20.2 carats is extremely rare for Indonesian opal.

I am extremely interested in your comment about cyano having the same refractive index as opal and using it as a “sealer” - so when you say “sealer” are you strictly referring to filling in cracks on damaged stones or do you mean a “seal” like a resin coating all the way around the stone?
I have been wondering if there are methods to use cyano as a “resin” aka apply it in some sort of flow coat method...I have Indonesian matrix opal that I would like to experiment with coating in cyano to protect the material and provide a surface that could be buffed/polished if scratched when worn as jewelry - to a glassy look just like crystal opal would look...... I wonder if cyano can polish to this effect? Please help

Just filling the crack for crystal opal...
For the matrix types, I coats them with cyno and repolished again until mirror-like finish
