People say the strangest things

Post by mick »

Ive been having insomnia, I do not like it, its worse than a toothache, to ma anyway.

So I stumbled across this magnificent quote on a site I wont mention. It is in the about us section I think.

Now I dont know about you, but I do not hink this is a good example of an honest dealer.
Ive never seen any one put such information in writing before or since.

If a new buyer came to Mintabie our asking price would be quite a lot higher. We had our regular buyers and knew pretty well how much they could pay. We also knew the type of opal the regular buyers were looking for. A new buyer was fair game, as we could always fall back on the stream of regulars. It was amazing how much some of these new buyers paid. It was not surprising they were not seen again. I am sure they had no idea what to pay for the opal rough (A future article will deal with buying an opal parcel)

" It was not surprising they were not seen again" because you robbed them blind you fool.

On the field, you pay more than in Sydney as sellers know you wont come back for your 500 bucks if it will cost you 5 grand to do so.
The statement above, dear me. Its not good for anyone.

It certainly does not make the miners look honest to the public, and sours their reputation for all of them so it's very sad that someone would publicly admit to that, and be pretty much bragging about it. :o

Takes all kinds and without the Sharks people don't recognize Tuna. I have to listen to them here talk of "the old guys" selling wet black opal to "Australian dealers" who sold it as lightning ridge to people who didn't recognize it as American or to tourists here after they allude to how some cuts. Not most like they imply. I was asked to never come back to one place I told one lady to her face to quit lying to fee diggers this mine had the most stable opal in the whole valley. Some lies take on a life of their own with money driving the lust. They since have asked for us to come back and dig there again...why dont we? LOL Maybe her husband should not have come stuck his nose in my split and accused me to my face I was a thief. I pushed all the non evidence across the table to him (all the tops crystal opals I dug that year and ordered him to put them back together and send a sheriff if a single chunk is missing from any the opals. That lady also jumped our holes and ruined them the first day we were not digging, per the rules, but with lack of any morals or respect. I'm not surprised they chased us off; the most prolific diggers.

Man, the things you find when you can't sleep. It's enough to keep you awake at night! heh

Mysterious opals contain the wonders of the skies - sparkling rainbows, fireworks, and lightning, shifting and moving in their depths.
