IMHO if you don't want to appraise a piece then just say you charge $ for appraisals. But saying it's worth whatever you sell it for devalues the gemstone. It's small. It Aussie but I'm going to guess it's Coober based upon the batch but I don't really know. There are a few larger pieces with mild broad flash throughout the bulk of the piece. I think those will make good carvings.

In a pile of low grade opal I found this lil beauty! It'll be small but I should be able to cut a nice gem from this.
