Re: The Cockroach is going blind!
Well where I live it is cold and miserable a lot of the time, even in summer. In Wales working dogs often lived outside, but it struck me as pretty cruel given the temperatures there in winter. Both the dogs we have had are house dogs which I think is the norm for the UK. Charlie lived to about 14 a...

Re: How value is worked out
I don't know the ins and outs or the history about who is who at opal auctions. I had kind of assumed (perhaps naively) that the auction was independent of the people who sold on there. I am kind of wary about feedback including negative because I know as a regular eBay seller that there is just no ...

Re: The Cockroach is going blind!
Charlie, my old rustler developed eyes like that and yeah, his sight eventually went almost completely. I think if any dog of mine ate the furniture like that then it might have to get used to living outside though!

For that price I'd have expected a bit more sparkle.

Re: How value is worked out
It's Trueblueopals. They have what appear to be some lovely stones but some of the feedback suggested they had been photoshopped plus not knowing where the stones were coming from, either Oz or the USA made me a bit suss of them. I did a search on the other forum and it looked like a couple of peopl...

Re: How value is worked out
the deadline has been and gone alas. The first thing was a silver and gold Mobius strip bangle but I somehow messed up my math and it turned out too small. It fits me, but I sold it to recoup the cost of the gold. Rather than a surprise we sat down and discussed what she would like instead if she di...

Re: here you all are!
heh, I am already poor from buying jewellery tools and bullion! My rough came today and a little laser pointer for me to play with, so will try and get some pics up tomorrow (assuming I can find some daylight!)

How value is worked out
I posted on the other place asking about advice on buying doublets for a ring I'm making*. Basically the kid let wanted big and blinging and I thought that a doublet might be the way to go. That said, looking on the auction site, there were doublets which were a similar price as solid opals. They so...

here you all are!
So I posted on the other site and no one responded to my cries for help, it was like I was on the naughty step! Luckily Pink Diamond gave me some pointers and here I am! As background I'm a hobbyist jeweller (though I sell some niche products as well) in Cornwall. I don't really use stones in my stu...
