Re: Here it is...

Thank you crazy8s and SwordfishMining. I hope to actually get an opal out of the rock without it breaking so I can make a ring with it. Since this was my first attempt I expected breakage, not to mention the particular one I chose to start "practicing" and "learning" with was one...

Re: Here it is...

Thank you KJ. I may have to try making more stuff like this. I didn't want the pieces to go to waste. I recycle everything.

Not fancy opal, but she knows I mined them myself. Went to Hobby Lobby today and got the little vials, the wire, and the butterfly...

Broken Pieces

It's been quite a while since I've been on. Lot's going on in my life right now. I did manage to get my first opal out. I already expected it would break due to the condition of the stone, but knowing that made it easier to practice on. So it is broken pieces and I would like to use them to put into...

Re: Joining you from Tennessee

Too late. Today I drank a rock. I had a glass of water on the patio table while I was working on the other side of the patio. Turns out the dust flew far enough to get into my drink. Yuck!!! How awesome you have the cab machine for when you need it. I think it would be cool to facet, but I probably ...

Re: Joining you from Tennessee

Safety always comes first. I've been using both even as I used the rotary tool. My husband used to be a design engineer/supervisor in a manufacturing setting so he taught me all about safety. I was destined for this. LOL
